Hey y’all! I’m Sarah Jane the artist behind Sarah Jane Studio Art. I am a daughter of the Lord, redeemed through Christ finished work on the cross. All glory to Him!

I’m also a wife and mother of the sweetest little boys. My husband and I married shortly after I graduated high school. He is my person, my rock. We have two little boys who are my heart outside my body. They are little bundles of sweet, rambunctious energy with the best hugs and smiles.

I’ve always been an artist. I went to school for fine arts for about 2 years then transitioned into graphic design. I’ve done graphic design/web design as my full time day job for about 10 years. A couple of those years doing minor in-house catalog work for Champion and Under Armor. I loved building brand identities but after spending hours designing on a computer I always yearned to pick up a pencil to sketch or a brush to paint.

In 2020 my second baby was 4 months old and the lock downs started. It was then I was pulled back into painting/fine arts after my babies were in bed. I did a lot more with my micron pens back then. Going back to fine art after designing on a computer for so long was a mental switch. I had to relearn things I had forgotten. I ended up spending a lot of time at the library going over things like shading and color theory. It was a refresher!

Painting is my time to relax, listen to a sermon and/or worship the Lord – the master artist. It’s a time to gather my thoughts and pray over my day.

I’m inspired by flowers and nature. I grew up spending a lot of time at my grandparents farm in the country. I was constantly outside, barefoot, catching turtles, frogs, butterflies, garden snakes and soaking up the sun. I’d wonder through my grandmas veggie gardens helping her pick and snap beans. My favorite thing was always her flowers. She let irises, grape hyacinths and clover grow wild all over her yard. I’d lay on the ground and watch the bees work the clover or a walking stick climb an iris. It really was idyllic.

I’m currently in a transition from working to being a homemaker and focusing a little more on my watercolor business. My hope is to complete my first collection of work in the next couple of months as well as post some small amount of education that answers the questions I most commonly get asked.
